I lied about socks... well, sortof...I cast on two mystery socks on May 1 or 2... I have kept up on the Hazel Knits Mystery, but not really with the SKA one. I'm still on clue 1 when clue 3 will be released tomorrow. Here is the up-to-date Clue 2 of the Hazel Knits Mystery. The cables are on the front.
And no, I haven't really worked on shawls this past 2 weeks either.. It's this darn afghan I'm knitting. Surprisingly, I'm keeping on track and it is more fun than I thought. Perhaps I will really finish an afghan under 3 months. The full details can be found on the Rowan website. The pattern is free - you just have to register on the website (also free registration). I did not sign up for any notifications so they haven't sent me junk mail. I just go there every Monday to download the pattern. We are now on week 4. You certainly can use any yarn, but they are promoting the Rowan Pure Wool, which is a superwash.. They have 51 colors available. The pattern has a recommended shopping list for 17 colors and they tell you which 2 colors to knit each week. 3 squares per color each week, i.e. 6 squares a week. Some people are knitting with 1 color, some with 5 or 6 or 9. I'm going with 17 but I'm picking my own. I tried to pick colors in my family room and then, just add colors that will work with the green walls and burnt orangy/red throw pillows. So here are the photos:

I'm now working on week 4. I've finshed one square and am working on the second square. I have finished all 18 squares from the first 3 weeks! Most of them are blocked and ends even woven in!
These are the colors that were suggested:
