Too Much Yarn

When it rains, it pours

And I'm not talking about my finished projects!  In the past few weeks, I've been receiving yarn. And that's all you get to see today.  I don't know why they are being sent here.  I don't know how it happened...

I'm getting ready to finish 7 pairs of socks next month (goal) so I'm starting second socks this month so all I have to do is to finish them in August!  Other than the socks, I'm crocheting the blanket that my Mom and I started or my Hexagon Crocheted blanket.  This photo was taken before MORE yarn arrived:

So, without my adieu, my Hazel Knits Rogue order came. This was a special order for all of Wendee's Rogue yarn aka one of a kind, mistakes, whatever you want to call it - colors that were accidents - she will not be able to replicate them again.  I received 3 Rogues and one is an Entice in Baroness that I just love.

Then, I placed an order from Plucky Knitter  - the last time I bought any Plucky Knitter was from Sock Summit!  These are all Primo Fingering:

No Bugga?  Are you crazy?  Of course there is Bugga!  These are all from Cephalopod Yarns - they hve a new base.  I think they're now more Fingering than Sport...  But I can't resist the colors:

I was hoping for more pinks/purples with the one above.. but when it comes to variegated colors from Cephalopod Yarns - you jsut don't know what you'll end up with!  This is my  new favorite.  May need to get this in the DK base - Traveller.  Maybe I need to knit a sweater!

I've just finished reading a book called, "Crazy Rich Asians" - it's very believeable - it's based in Singapore.  Now that I'm done with reading, I expect to get a little more progress with knitting...

 

 

 

 

Finished Some Socks

   Wow!  I didn't realize it, but it's been almost 2 weeks since I last blogged.  My mom left to visit her sister up north last Monday. My sister from California went with her.  My sister returned home with about 30 motifs for me to join... Oh, you have no idea what I'm talking about... Well, remember, I got frustrated trying to explain to her how to join them together?  So in the end, she's crocheting the motifs inside and I'm joining them into squares.  So the pattern is called Flowers in the Snow.  She's the flowers, and I'm the snow.  So this is what we've done so far...

So I have enough to double this size. It's getting a bit hot to join to this piece. I'll have to look at the colors she's done - whether I can do them in pieces and then, join them together or I'd have to join them as I go.

In knitting news, I finished two pairs of socks.  I'm getting ready to finish PAIRS of socks in August so I co-host a KAL to "Free Up Your Needles".  We usually have good prizes, donated by the knitters and some vendors I contact (where I'm a good customer!).  The first pair is the Tadpoles under the Lilypad.  This one won't get finished in August... I don't know when as it doesn't count for finished pairs in August.  Those for the KAL/competition has to be cast on before July 1 and I cast this one on after July 1.  This is the pattern Tadpoles in Hazel Knits Artisan in Lilypad:

The second pair is my Monkey socks. This is pair #9 and I have cast on the second sock.  This is knitted in Zen Yarn Serenity 20 in a one of a kind color.

And folks, that is all for this week.  Next time, I hope to show you some second socks I've started - all ready for August.  The goal is to finish 6 - 7 pairs!!!

 

Getting some knitting in

I have not joined my friends at the Tuesday and Thursday Knit Nights yet.  I'm hosting my Mom this week.  She normally stays at my sister's when she visits from Malaysia, but my sister is with my other sister from CA on a camping trip to Yellowstone.  There has been some frustrations (between mothers/daughters).  My daughter came with us to the casino yesterday.  It was a fun day for the 3 generations and my daughter now understand why I am the way I am!  She keeps reminding me to be nice to my Mom - hmmm... who reminds her to be nice to her Mom??  I got my Mom crocheting a worsted weight blanket!!

I finished a sock this past week:  Katniss!

It's sa bit small on me so for sure, it's going to Emily! She called dibs on the yarn once when she was looking for some yarn.  Of course, she has good taste!  It's Bugga in Love Bug!

Then, I cast on Tadpoles in Hazel Knits Artisan - Lilypad.  For the first time, I felt "smart" calling my project "Tadpoles under the Lilypad" - I feel like Susan (zuzon58 on Ravelry) - she has smart names for her projects!  I did not follow the pattern with the needles size as I normally cast on 64 stitches on size 2.5mm needles.  It does not stretch much.  Even though I'm not a green person, I do like this green. I'm so glad I still have this color - it was closed to being chopped up as mini skeins!

Back to knitting - and entertaining...  Have a wonderful 4th of July for my American friends, and a belated Canada Day (yesterday) for my Canadian friends!
