Blankets

I really should be knitting my sock (Sarsapirilla), but I cast on the wrong number of stitches and I didn't realize it until 2 inches later when I'm starting to do the cables  and saw that one side had 3 stitches and the other side only had 2!! I tried to be creative to create an extra stitch and who would really check on the cuff!!!  But I couldn't deal with the error so I frogged it!  However, I haven't felt like casting on again! 

So in the meantime, I was working on my blankets.  I finished my mitered squares to the point I wanted to do for 2012.  I don't have my notes in front of me, but I evened it out to 8 diamonds per column. This was the last time I took a photo of the mitered squares blanket in April 2012:

This is the 30% mark - as I had set a goal to finish this in 6 years and I'm at 2 years.  This was April:

Since the photo was taken, I have added 2 more columns, added a row and am working on adding another column.  I think another one or two more columns should do it and I'll just work on the length of the blanket.  This is very addciting!

I'm ALMOST ready to start ANOTHER BLANKET in worsted yarn with all the Berroco Vintage I've collected.  I was thinking of making Flowers in the Snow. It will be squares instead of hexagons.

What do you think?  Should I just stay focused?????

Is this a sign or what?

My husband had knee replacement surgery yesterday. I am visiting him for the third time today. This time, this is on his door.

18 skeins of Malabrigo Rasta!!!

equals 15 cowls (1 has been given to Debbbie), 1 hat (YarnHarlot's An Unoriginal Hat) and 2 bags (Kate Vanover's Rasta Basket)

    

 

Excuse the pyjamas!  I have 4 skeins left!!  I may make ONE MORE cowl for a birthday gift, but I'm done!

We have SNOW!!

    14 inches!!  The last time we had over a foot of snow was Dec 3, 2010 - two years ago!!  It is finally winter and it's so pretty when one can stay home!

The sun is now out and not a cloud in the sky.  Truly beautiful, but cold!  Today's temp will not go above 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

In the past week, I finished Cowl #11 in Archangel for one of the sister-in-laws.

I'm now working on a Solis for the other sister-in-law and Natural for Emily and I'm done!!!  I still have to make a hat for a co-worker...

I did finish a sock last week, but gift knitting has been taking over knitting for myself the last few weeks.  This is Cookie A's Club pattern, Sarsaparilla in Hazel Knits Artisan, Salted Caramel.  It looks like a pretzel to me!

 

 

 

More Cowls...

I told you I am addicted to knitting these for gifts.  I started with needing 4 gifts and then, it grew to 7 and then, it grew to 10. Along the way, I wanted to keep some for myself!  So this is #7: (another Arco Iris)

I showed my cowl to a friend a work. Deb has cancer.  She's so strong (not health-wise, of course), but she's still coming in to work.  She's cold all the time so I made her #8: (Piedras) - this was so unusual - so pastel-ly:

Then, I had to make #9 (another Piedras) - for myself.

Then, my sister came over and saw them and said she would wear them. She's going to be at Christmas dinner and since I'd planned to make them for my sister-in-laws, I should make one for my own sister!  This is #10 Indiecita:

I'm now working on #11 for one of the Sister-in-laws.  I have 4 more that I have to make and I'm truly done!  Then, I still have a pair of mittens or hat to make for the guy at work.

This morning, I was on facebook and saw this photo of Deb. She's wearing the cowl I made her!!
