Too Much Yarn

Pair #14

This is my third pair of purple socks this year.  I don't even wear that much purple... but they're blueish purple so I'm sure I'll wear them.  Pattern is a club pattern from the Fall in Full Color Club by Anne Hanson, called Sparrow Dance.

Yarn is Hazel Knits Artisan in Iris.  There's bits of blue here and there.  I love it.  I have some more of this color in Entice which will probably end up being a shawl.

My friend, Jean, (MissFrances on Ravelry) was doing an informal study and figured that a lot of the yarn from the clubs this Fall featured BROWN yarn.  Well, the recent yarns I received were indeed brown-ish.

Expecting Twisted's club shipment still...  Next year, I've decided to just join Cookie A's and Hazel Knits that come with yarn.  Otherwise, I'll join pattern-only clubs.  By the way, Hazel Knits's package came with a brown and BLUE yarn - Sapphire.  I love it.  I need more!

I've crocheted a few hexagons during the Presidential debates.  But mostly, I'm working on my colorwork sock #2.  I hope to finish it by the end of the month!

A Yarny day on a Rainy day

I had my hair colored at 9 am.  It took longer than I expected but I still drove to St. Paul to help The Yarnery celebrate their 40th anniversary.  I received a tote bag - no photos yet - as it was raining and icky today and received a door prize of 3 mini Eucalan packets.  Came home and worked on Emily's Cowl.  She has selected for me to knit her Stockholm Scarf:

But in CREAM!  I am just using Berroco Vintage DK - but I think my needle is too big.  It's a size 10 and I'm not liking the stitch definition.  And I've knitted 5 rows - that's 252 stitches per row!  UGH!

OK - Then, at 3 pm, I drove to Amazing Threads, the closest yarn shop to my house (hmmm.. maybe 5 minutes away?) to meet Amy, who guessed the correct number of hexagons.  HEre she is, holding my blanket!

At the time of the contest, I had 76 hexagons.  I now have 105. 

Amazing Threads had a new stock of Madelinetosh Sock and Pashmina (1 of them came home with me -  just 1!).  AND, Sharon McMahon of The Three Irish Girls was there to teach a couple of classes.  We figured after 3, we could peak at what she brought from Duluth!  This is the loot:

When I got there, Yvonne was holding 2 skeins of blue yarn that I like.  She reluctantly gave them to me, but made me promise that I would think of her if I decided to destash them.  Then, baby came!  Sharon had her baby a few months ago. She was so adorable! - Sharon and the baby!

And then, I cast on a new shawl - none of the 4 I had selected earlier this week!  I will show you when I'm further along.

I did finish a sock this week - this is the club pattern from Knitspot Fall in Full Color 2012 club using Hazel Knits Artisan in Iris.  The pattern is Sparrow Dance.

Also, I started one of the Cookie A Sock Club patterns.  I didn't care for the club yarn so I'm using Sanguine Gryphon Bugga in Squash Beetle.  The pattern is Hamantaschen Socks.

I think tomorrow may  be another gloomy knitting day!

Mental Note on 12 Shawls - continued...

    These are the last 2 shawls I plan to tackle.  I'm nuts.  There's no way I can do these all in 2 1/2 months.. Wait - maybe 2 months as I have to finish socks, still!  Anyway, one can dream.

Mental Note on 12 Shawls

With the honeymoon period over for the 26 pairs of Sock Plunge, I have to complete 2 pairs of socks in October to stay on track, which I'm sure I can do as I have 2 singles waiting for pairs this month.

But, I'm feeling like I don't have enough shawls so I need to get in high gear to get those 12 shawls done.  So far, I've completed 5 shawls.  Here are 3 in progress:

That brings me to 8.  I think I may want to cast on these 4 to make up the 12 and just work on these when I feel like knitting shawls for the rest of the year:

I did not touch the blanket for a couple of days to cast on a sock and then, I missed it too much so I crocheted more.  Now, I'm at:

I just love it when I finished a complete skein of the mini's which I've swapped for. I can't believe I have used up that many.  I probably have another 150 - 200 mini's left.  But I've left my blanket alone for a full 48 hours now to cast on yet another sock.  I think it's OK to leave them as is for now.  Afterall, like Yvonne said, there's no knitting police out there to arrest me...

I've completed more hexagons since these photos were taken, but I've recorded the numbers at the time the photos were taken on the morning of Oct. 4.  I also took a photo of the entire project at that time.  At the end of the contest, I will post that photo.  Your clues:

I knew Anne Hanson could...

snap me out of my knitting hiatus.  I cast on Sparrow Dance (a Fall in Color 2012 club pattern) with Hazel Knits Artisan in Iris.

I also have a few ideas on knitting shawls but am resisting.  I should finish the few I have on the needles first.

No idea where the knitting mojo has gone.  Hopefully, I will pick up some knitting needles and cast on a new pair of socks today, being Oct. 1... I'm also going to frog this sock - I've knitted 5 inches and it just isn't making me want to finish it.  That means, I'll never finish it.

Stopped at Amazing Threads, my local yarn shop, for their 10th Birthday Party.  Picked up some Dream In Color Smooshy with Cashmere and plan to knit a shawl with these yarns.

The Aracaunia Lace in the variegated is for the ruffles.  But I have other shawls in queue.  I've finished 5 shawls, but have only reported in 1 shawl for the 12 shawls in 12 group.  I haven't reported the rest because I have been too lazy to weigh the leftovers to determine the exact yardage I've used.

OK - back to the hooking... I just can't stop!
