Jeez... you guys really just want to see the yarn haul. Well, I have to make you suffer through what I want to tell you first. And then, I'll scatter in some yarn photos... You have seen the 2 bags of compressed yarn. There were also other sock kits that I'd forgotten to take photos. In total, there may have been 40 skeins, but quite a few will end up being gifts.
Today, I want to tell you some of the things we ate. Some things, I don't remember the name.. Every morning, I had a breakfast buffet at the Courtyard by Marriot. It was a good breakfast which allows me to get some fresh fruits and yogurt (and eggs and bacon and pastries!). For lunch, I ate once at a restaurant at the Convention Center, and two days at Burgerville (they have pretty good burgers and very good shakes). It was always crowded there, but the line moved along.

This was the day we met with the Janel Laidman and Cookie A Sock Club members. After lunch, we took a group photo. The ring is something from Stargate, which both Tina and Stephanie are fans of.

OK.. gotta keep the interest going, so here goes your first yarn p0rn photo. This is the stash from Three Irish Girls. It's sad that I had to travel to Portland to see Sharon as she has moved to Duluth, MN. She will be at my local yarn store, Amazing Threads this Fall - I think September... or maybe October. These colors are all one of a kind. All three are in Glenhaven Cashmerino.

On Friday night, I met with the Sanguine Gryphon group. I had a ticket to Sock Hop, but didn't make it back on time to join the party. I was the only one with the ticket so I didn't pressure them to get me back to the convention Center. But we enjoyed an almost perfect evening. The food was great at the Thai restaurant, Pok Pok. The restaurant is really a house...

It was very crowded and popular. We had a reservation and we sat upstairs. Here were the daily specials:

I can't remember what we ordered, but here are some photos. Rosiekitty and I split 4 items:

Across the street from Pok Pok were some food carts. This is a popular thing... Different types of food are being served from these trucks.

There was the chicken and dumpling in a cone:

The gentleman has already started eating his chicken and dumpling cone, but I explained that I'm a tourist and he let me take a photo of it. Then, there was this Pie Spot:

They served mini pies like this cherry one:

and I brought these Chocolate Hazelnut and Marionberry Pies back home:

OK - time for more yarn photos... this group is from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. They are all Socks That Rock Lightweight:

Colors are Sophie, Rare Gem, and Hot Sox. OK... more food...
On Saturday, we went to Dim Sum. There were a lot more food that I took photos of, but at one point, these were what we had on the table:

On Saturday night, Courtney, my new Portland-local friend, took us to another area with food carts on Hawthorne. They had very good pizza and crepes. I ended up with PB & J Fries, but it was not as good as the pizza that Courtney ordered or the Crepe that Denise ordered:

And good news... I'm out of food photos. But I do have more yarn photos... Here's Winter's Lament (80/10/10 MCN from Becoming Art)

There was another skein that I bought, but it had red spots that I found later that afternoon, so I returned it and the dyer will send me another skein in a couple of weeks. And this is the single skein of Stricken Smitten - I don't remember the base, but it is not an MCN.
Stay tuned... I have more yarn photos!
