Too Much Yarn

Not Knitting-Related...

This was the most popular cookie/candy I made this year at my Family Christmas gathering...  Try it!

I have to go get one before they all disappear into DH and DD's stomachs - they are the chocoholics in the family.

Holiday knitting away...

For the past 2 weeks, I've mostly been working on 3 projects:  a scarf, a cowl, and a pair of socks - all as gifts and I shall not reveal the recipients in case they read my blog.  But I will show you... well, except for the socks - I forgot to take photos...

This is the Ribs and Ruffles scarf, which took me 4 evenings...  It's knitted with Misti Grand Baby Alpaca and size 13 needles - just knit til you run out of yarn.  It's soooooo soft!  Lucky recipient! 

Next, I copied Gail (the one with the gorgeous photography - her blog here.  In one of her projects, she used a Malabrigo Worsted on a cowl, a stitch pattern from the Papaver Socks by Anne Hanson (Knitspot).  I liked it so much that I copied it and knitted this for my friend.  This was the sock I finished when I was in Cozumel...

I never expected I would like wearing a cowl, but boy, it sure is easier to handle than a scarf!  I'm not a purple person, but I do love this color!

OK - I did finish the Gull Wing socks a while ago (Dec 7) but didn't get a chance to photograph them until today.  Very pleased with the socks.  The color is out of fashion now as it's kinda of "fall"ish.  But I know I'll be wearing it!

It's dark now, but I do have a kit I just received from Woolgirl that I want to show you.  I'm really pleased with it because the yarn is just gorgeous!  It's BLUE!

A package from Christy

Yesterday, Christy messaged me on Ravelry to watch out for a package.  I called Emily and advised her that if a package arrived, make sure she doesn't leave it on the floor because there's food in there.  I was about a mile away from home when Emily called, "Can I eat the bread?" 

"What bread?" 

"The bread from the package"

"You opened my package??? That was my present!!" (In my lifetime, I am deprived of opening presents/packages.  That's why I order so much yarn!)

The package was full of goodies - yarn, a pair of socks, 3 loaves of bread, a Maple Nut Twist, a car for Alex, and the sweetest note on an index card (Christy's stationary - I need to get her better ones - maybe colored ones from Office Depot!)

Can you just smell and taste the Maple Nut Twist?  I'm so pressured into baking and knitting for her now - she's knitted me 2 pairs of socks!

Where is my knitting mojo?

Not sure if my knitting mojo is on vacation or what... I had 2 shipments sitting in the front entryway and I was not interested in opening them!  This past week has been a test of my patience to hear from the insurance company regarding my car.  On Wednesday, they finally called and said the car was beyond repair so they settled on a pretty fair amount.  I took that and bought another CRV, which practically emptied my savings account so I am borrowing some money from my Sugar Daddy (he reminded me that he already bought me a car this summer... so I have to buy this one myself).. I do have some money in stocks which I'm not ready to cash (I bought some shares of my company stock when it went as low as $16 a share and today, it's valued at about $50 a share)  Of course, I was thinking how much yarn the profits could fetch me, but as we left to sign the papers for the new car, Sugar Daddy saw the unopened packages and reminded me that I would have been able to afford the car if I didn't buy so much yarn (oops - BUSTED!)... So, I opened the packages...

First package was from Woolgirl - the Snowflake/Snowman Kit:

I have 2 repeats and a cuff left on a pair of socks, 1 more inch of stockinette and I can begin the cables on Mr. Greenjeans.  It's 11 days before Christmas and I want to finish a scarf (or two) for gifts so I may not be casting on any new socks in December.  Maybe my mojo is returning...
