Too Much Yarn

This week's knitting progress...

One Fawkes sock is completed.

I did start on the second sock (Thank Goodness!!).  But as I mentioned before, I need to get the Dream In Color Shrug done by June 1 so I can have a chance to win something from The Loopy Ewe!  I'm one and a half lace repeat away and then, I start the side seams and do the ribbing...

Then, the Rockin' Sock Club package arrived today!  I wound the skein and I STARTED on a sock!!  I have never knitted a toe-up sock before, but I managed to come up with this after 2 hours!!  The crochet provisional cast-on is a big waste of time (oops, I don't mean a waste of time - I mean, it's time- consuming to take the waste yarn off and maybe I simply have no clue as to what I was doing!!).

My husband gave me a look after I've been sitting there for 2 hours (OK - during that time, he took a bath, watched some Twins baseball on TV, and played a computer game) - how productive is that compared to a finished toe???  The color is called "The Incredible Shrinking Violet" - pictured here is a very explosed photo - the violet is not as intense...

OK - I need to get back to my shrug - maybe I can knit in the bathroom with the door closed and flush the toilet every once in a while - that way, my husband will think I am using the bathroom instead of knitting...

Wow, it's been almost 3 weeks since I last posted.  You can blame my real job for that!  However, I did manage to sneak in some knitting... and had some time to order online, checked out a couple of yarn stores for stash enhancement!  The good news is that I finished the Cascading Leaves socks:

I also started on a couple of socks for the May sock down (currently, almost done with the leg of the second Fawkes sock - no progress on Math Whiz socks).  This is Fawkes:

Seriously, Math Whiz may be a bit too wide - I may need to start over... but there are a couple of socks by Gigi Silva that I want to make: Nagini and Bellatrix (the other 2 in a series of 3 socks - Fawkes being one of them) that were designed by Gigi.  Gigi passed away earlier this year; I never got to know her in Ravelry.

I am supposed to finish my Central Park Hoodie by June 1 for the Loopy Ewe Dream In Color KnitALong - I don't think that's going to happen.  However, I am knitting another Dream In Color project - the Shrug - we'll see if I can finish that this week!  Will give you updates soon.

A Pair of Socks in a Week!!

Wow!  I finished a pair of socks this week!  Yay!!

Ahem... yep... they don't match!  The yellow/green one is the Lemongrass Cascading Leaves and the apricot/plum one is a Monkey sock.  Both are Socks That Rock in Lightweight - Lemongrass and Faulty Dyer.  I modified the Monkey pattern a teeny bit by continuing the lace pattern down the heel for 2 repeats.  I saw this once on Ravelry - should have favorited it, but I didn't, and I can't find it now (well, unless I got through the 100+ pages of photos of Monkey socks!)  The colors above look slightly off as I tried to take the photo without a flash.  I like how the stitches are showing though.

I knitted a few more rows of the project for NerdGirl and also worked on a few rows of the 9-5 socks... I've ignored my 2 sweaters - one has to be done by June and I'm just not in a sweater mood anymore.

Other bad news - I'm SO addicted to yarn!  I bought a BUNCH of yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts - Socks That Rock is by far my favorite yarn.  I used my 10% off coupon from Sock Club.  I have only knitted 1 sock from the Amazing Threads Sock Club and none from the Pennyrose Sock Club yet.  Everytime I go to my stash to pick something out, I end up with Socks That Rock!

Last week, we had our 2nd meeting of the Ravelry group NW Suburbs knitters.  A good group of gals (and a guy).  I'm glad to have someone to ask for advice without feeling the need to buy something because they helped you.  AND there were cupcakes!  I'm also looking forward to donating some yarn I'll NEVER use (ACRYLIC!!) as I learned from Jill that she has a friend who would take yarns of all sorts and knit for charity.  And, I can start a pile of patterns and magazines that I no longer will read. DESTASH!  DESTASH! DESTASH!!!!

WEll, I think I have another 1/2 hour I can knit in bed before my husband makes me turn off the lights... should I cast on a new sock???
